Unfortunately we have had to withdraw from having Jamie ,You remember a while back I told you about the farmer who shot the little dog who was in the field with his sheep, well he's put his sheep in the field directly opposite the end of our garden with only the road that molly got run over on sperarating them ,so sadly we have decided in the intrest of his safety we shouldn't take him.The dogs home said we made the right decision as lurchers are bred to hunt and a field full of sheep may have proved too much of a temptation. We feel really bad but not as bad as we would have felt had we taken him and he got shot ,run over or we had had to return him because he was sheep worrying,I do hope he finds a nice home soon he's lovely boy even though he's ugly :(

I don;t really like little dogs I would consider a mini poodles because they have big dog traits but I am not a fan of lap type dogs

Mini poodles have big dog traits? Little poodles are the yappiest dogs I've ever seen apart from my sister's mutt.

Well,, when you can't say anything nice, say nothing at all,, you will notice my silence on the lurcher. Ya dodged a bullet. It's not that they are bad dogs,, they just have other priorities than their "peoples"- which has been bred into them over centuries. I prefer a dog that sees his human family as his main object of attention and affection- not the beasts of the fields and woodlands. Lots of the bad habits in our dogs occur because we unknowingly reward them for their bad habits and reinforce them. That said, I am no dog whisperer. You'll have to watch TV and Caesar for that. Mum,, are heartworms and fleas and ticks much of a problem in the UK?

we don't have heartworm over here at all fleas and ticks i get the vet to treat with that three monthly stuff ,ticks are a problem cos of the sheep.which reminds me I meant to ask you about Bloat ,I have read conflicting items on whether dgs who are prne to to blaot should havetheir bowls raised or eat from floor level do you know?

I tell you- concerning gastric dilatation/ volvulus - every few years there is a new theory about why it occurs and how to prevent it- depending upon what new development or idea someone has to promote. It will certainly do no harm to raise their bowls to feed them, and to feed them small amounts frequently rather than let them gorge at all one sitting. Some lines of great danes here prophylactically get their stomach anchored (that's not what it is exactly, but is the best analogy i can think of) so that it doesn't undergo torsion. d
