I was talking abou the main site with someone today and I have come to te conclusion that something that was intended to be like the algonquin round table is actually more like a kids party at macdonalds, not that I have a problem with that its about my level but I am sure some people are deeply disappointed .Just thought I;d sare that with you cos I can;t think opf anything else to say and the hilight of my day was sorting ou two anagrams for a lazy woman so she could enter a competitionand win twenty pounds to spend on wine and choocolate for herself ( nothing for me story of my life sob )

Well, Boit was disappointed, and he's gone.

Kids' party at McDonalds is about my speed too.

Bert's disappointment was self-induced, then. He'd certainly been around the shelf long enough to know exactly how this place and its inhabitants act.

Just to clear it up I wasn't talking to bert and it wasn't bert I thought we were a disappointment to. Bert and I don;t have those kind of converations

I'd bet real money that the Algonquin round table had it's McDonald kiddie moments. It was, after all, made up of humans.

Thanks for clearing that up, Mum. I guess I'll take a french fry gremlin.

(g) Mum, i didn't think you were talking about Bert, but Mel brought him up.

Bert never said he was disappointed. He just got busy and found other ways to spend his days. Nothing wrong with that, is there?

I am not lazy. It's just that my arms and legs don't work in this weather.

Or cold weather.

Or when anyone tries to make me do anything.

I once went to a kid's party at McDonald's; everyone was tired, and cranky, and snapping at each other - and the kids were even worse. (Honest.)

Let us remember that we do not have logs of the goings-on at the Algonquin; everything always looks better in retrospect (just look at the people who keep saying, "Why can't Shelf be like it used to be, when everyone loved each other and we discussed Dostoevsky and Goethe every night?"

Where is the main site anyway?

we'd tell you, Jackie, but then we'd have to kill you.
